Thomson Reuters – UX Designer (Legal Tech Division)
Overview
Thomson Reuters is a global leader in delivering trusted news and information. During my time there, I worked within the legal technology division, supporting products that help law firms and attorneys manage their day-to-day operations.
Key Projects:
Passive Time – A time-tracking tool designed to help attorneys automatically log billable hours with minimal manual input.
Paperless Proforma – A billing solution that enables law firms to streamline and accurately manage client invoicing.
Both projects presented unique challenges due to shifting goals, budgets, and organizational changes. Each began with a weeklong design sprint and involved close collaboration across multiple teams. I contributed to research, ideation, prototyping, and final design deliverables, navigating complexity to create user-centered solutions.
During each design sprint, our team began by mapping out the end-to-end user journey, then broke into smaller groups to sketch interface concepts. We regrouped to vote on ideas, refine them into detailed storyboards, and ultimately build interactive prototypes. The sprint concluded with user testing to validate our designs and gather feedback.
Because both Passive Time and Paperless Proforma were part of the larger 3E platform, I had access to a comprehensive set of personas, which proved invaluable throughout the sprints and the broader product design process.
Each UX team was lean, with just 2 to 3 designers, which allowed me to take on a lead role as UX architect. I focused on defining information architecture and creating wireframes, while also contributing to visual design when needed.
